Dutch side FC Twente will be hoping to take full advantage of their reprieve by Sporting Lisbon when the two teams meet in the second leg of their third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday. Sporting should have had come away from the first leg with a victory but midfielder Joao Moutinho missed his chance from the penalty spot midway through the first half. Twente keeper Sander Boschker was sent off in the 25th minute after he appeared to have fouled Helder Postiga inside the penalty area

Moutinho stepped up to take the penalty but his effort was saved brilliantly by substitute keeper Nikolay Mihaylov. Twente then dug their heels and defended for the rest of the game with just 10 men on the field to secure a vital draw that puts them in pole position to qualify to the next round.

Having survived a difficult first leg, coach Steve McClaren expressed his delight at the result adding that his players are confident of going through to the next round by getting the required result at Enschede on Tuesday.
