Everton manager David Moyes will be looking to give some rest to his injury ravaged side and give a chance for his young players to shine when they welcome Carlisle United in the third round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Watch all the live FA Cup action here on Live Sport Network

The Toffees’ season has been wrecked by injuries so far and the club is just four points away from the relegation zone with half of the season gone. As many as eight first team players are out of action for at least another two weeks including Jo, Joseph Yobo, Mikel Arteta, Phil Jagielka and Sylvain Distin while Tim Cahill is a serious doubt for the game this weekend.

Moyes will be hoping to repeat last season’s incredible run in the competition that had seen Everton progress all the way to the final beating Liverpool, Aston Villa and Manchester United. The Toffees came very close to winning the trophy after taking a shock lead through Louis Saha only for Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard to score the goals late in the game.

Carlisle United on the other hand were lucky to progress to the second round of the competition last season. The Blue Army were held to a 1-1 draw at home in the first round before trailing 1-0 away to Grays Athletic.

However a floodlight failure meant that the game had to be abandoned and it was Carlisle who progressed to the next round where they lost out to Crewe Alexandra. There has been some improvement this season with Carlisle beating Morecambe in the first round before securing a comfortable victory over Norwich City in the second round.
