The Toffees have had a forgettable season so far, most of which has been undermined by a nightmarish injury crisis. However they managed to shrug this off on Saturday when they held Sunderland to a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light.

Marouane Fellaini scored late on to nullify Darren Bent's early strike for the Black Cats. Manager David Moyes will be happy with his side's showing in the light of the injury crisis. The Toffees are placed 14th on the league table with 19 points from 18 games. Phil Neville, Joseph Yobo and Sylvain Distin continue to be sidelined, but defender Phil Jagielka is on the road to recovery and may be able to play in mid-January.

Meanwhile Burnley are also coming off a 1-1 draw against Bolton. The Clarets came back from a goal down to salvage a point at Turf Moor on Boxing Day after Matt Taylor had given the visitors the lead. David Nugent pulled it back with a late strike for Owen Coyle's side. The draw sees them placed 13th on the league table with 20 points from 19 games played so far.

Burnley manager Owen Coyle will hope his side end the year on a high even as their aim to stay up seems to be distinctly achievable. Burnley have had a great first half in the top flight with a win over Manchester United being the highlight of their season so far.
