The Toffees are currently placed seventh on the league table with 22 points from 15 games so far. A win will take them to 25 points and they will be tied with Villa as far as the points are concerned. After a less than ideal start to their season, Everton appear to have found their feet.

Last week they defeated Tottenham 0-1 away from home in a game that also dented Spurs manager Harry Redknapp's 100 percent home record since taking charge. Steven Pienaar was the goal scoring hero for Everton in that game, which also happened to be David Moyes's 300th game in charge of the Goodison Park outfit.

 

 

However Moyes has plenty of injury concerns as the Premier League heads into a frantic Christmas fixture schedule. Star striker Yakubu is out for the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon in the win over Spurs. James Vaughan is facing a knee operation, while Louis Saha has a hamstring injury. Victor Anichebe is now the only fit striker available for Everton.

Meanwhile Aston Villa are again back to the fifth spot on the Premiership table after drawing their last game by a 0-0 margin against Fulham.

 

 

Villa manager Martin O'Neill would not have been pleased with this effort and will hope his side can do better in this game at least. Some good news was on the horizon for the Irishman as skipper Gareth Barry hinted he will stay at if they qualify for the Champions League next season. However his other striker John Carew is out for two weeks with a back problem.
