The Italian team played stunning live footy to overcome a determined Everton side with goals from Zdravko Kuzmanovic and Riccardo Montolivo giving them a huge edge. Everton goalkeeper Tim Howard was the hero of the game as he frustrated the home side with stunning saves.

However Tomas Ujfalusi's pass and Kuzmanovic's conversion seemed to open the floodgates and the Italian team grabbed a valuable second goal at the Stadio Artemio Franchi. The loss ended Everton's run of five consecutive victories in the UEFA Cup.

Fiorentina coach Cesare Prandelli will continue to be without Romanian striker Adrian Mutu who is out for almost one month with a knee injury. His absence did not prove to be a great deterrent for Fiorentina in the first leg and they will expect to progress despite playing away from home.

Meanwhile Toffees boss David Moyes was understandably upset with his defensive personnel at Fiorentina and will hope for a better showing this time around. He will be without striker James Vaughan who is all set to be out of the rest of the season after suffering a serious knee injury.

Vaughan took a knock in training and will require surgery before he can step onto a football live field once again. Leon Osman sustained a groin injury in the Fiorentina game and is a doubtful starter.
