Following Mark Hughes departure to the riches of Manchester City, Paul Ince was appointed as the manager of Blackburn making him the first black to manage in the elite division of English football. Ince is also the first manager in the history of English football to make a direct leap from fourth division to the first.

 

 

While Ince has had a fairly successful stint at Macclesfield Town and MK Dons, fans at Ewood Park will be hopeful that their new manager has the ability to manage a club at the highest level as they look to sustain their recent improved performances under Hughes leadership.

Ince has so far signed Paul Robinson and Julio Santa Cruz while Carlos Villanueva and Danny Simpson have joined the club on loan. However Ince will have to make do without the services of David Bentley who completed a high profile move to Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

 

 

Everton on the other hand have struggled to make any new signings of note this season with the focus being firmly on their off field issues. Manager David Moyes has expressed his disappointment over the lack of new signings and warned that the team is not yet ready for the new season.

However even if the Toffees fail to dip into the market before the end of the transfer window, Moyes has assembled a quality squad that is good enough to finish in the top six of the league table.
