The Three Lions have been bogged with a number of controversies with John Terry and Ashley Cole both being embroiled in sex scandals. Just when it looked as if the matter could die down, Wayne Bridge further flamed the matter by retiring from international football after claiming that he cannot play in the same team as Terry.

Fabio Capello will be missing a number of his first and second choice players with Rio Ferdinand, Cole, Glen Johnson, Gary Cahill and Ledley King all out of action due to injuries. Stephen Warnock and Leighton Baines are in the race for the left back slot and with Cole’s injury threatening his participation in the World Cup, at least one of the two are expected to be on the plane to South Africa in the summer.

Meanwhile Egypt will be looking to maintain their good form by securing a shock victory over England in the midweek. The Pharaohs became the first side to win the African Nations Cup for a third successive time and coach Hassan Shehata will be looking to build on that performance by beating England at the Wembley Stadium.

West Ham’s Mido once again misses out on the national squad though Amr Zaki has be recalled after missing the African Nations Cup due to injury. Borussia Dortmund's Mohamed Zidan and Hossam Ghaly also find a place in the 25-man squad.
