The Pharaohs came from behind to register a handsome 3-1 win over Nigeria in their opening game. The Super Eagles took the lead in the 12th minute through Chinedu Obasi Ogbuke. Emad Moteab pulled it back for Egypt before goals from Ahmed Hassan and Mohammed Geda ensured that Egypt began their bid for a hat-trick of African titles on a winning note.

Meanwhile Mozambique came back from two goals down to hold Benin to a 2-2 draw on Tuesday. The Mambas were shocked in the first 20 minutes when Razak Omotoyossi gave Benin a lead through a penalty and an own goal from Dario Khan gave them a 2-0 cushion by the 20th minute. However Almiro Lobo pulled one back in the 29th minute and Carlos Goncalves made it 2-2 in the 59th minute.

Mozambique coach Mart Nooij will hope his side show the same spirit against Egypt as well.
