Defending champions Egypt will be looking to complete their qualification to the quarter finals with a convincing victory over Sudan on Saturday.

Hassan Shehata's side have put themselves in pole position to qualify to the quarter finals with a resounding 4-2 win over Cameroon on Tuesday. Hosni Abd Rabou put the Pharaohs in the lead from the penalty spot and Mohamed Zidan followed it up with two goals as Egypt raced to a 3-0 lead in the first half.

Samuel Eto'o pulled one back for Cameroon by Rabou put the result beyond doubt by scoring the fourth goal eight minutes from time. Eto'o bagged a second in the final minute of the game but it was too little too late as Egypt started the defense of their title with a big win over one of the pre-tournament favorites.

Meanwhile Sudan's joy of qualifying for the African Nations Cup looked to be short-lived after a poor display against Zambia saw them go down 3-0 in their opening match on Tuesday. With the team overwhelming favorites to lose heavily against Egypt, Sudan will be effectively eliminated from the competition with two loses in two games.

James Chamanga, Jacob Mulenga and Felix Katongo were on target for Zambia and though Sudan tried to take the match to their opponent, they were unable to create any real chances except a shot by Badreldin El Doud that struck the post early on in the game.
