Shakhtar, conquerors of Tottenham and CSKA Moscow, beat Marseille 4-1 on aggregate in the last eight. Tomas Hubschman and Jadson scored in the 2-0 win in the first leg, while Fernandinho and Luiz Adriano netted in the return leg in France. Shakhtar have never won any European title, and this season represents one of their best opportunities to correct that statistic.

Shakhtar beat Chornomorets Odessa 1-0 in their weekend Ukrainian Premier League clash. Brazilian midfielder Willian scored the winner early into the second half. Although Dynamo lead the Ukrainian league currently, Shakhtar beat them 1-0 in November last year.

 

 

Dynamo outclassed Paris Saint-Germain 3-0 on aggregate in the quarterfinals. Yuri Semin’s side drew the first leg 0-0 in France, and then produced a commanding display at home to show PSG the door. Dynamo had beaten Valencia and Metalist Kharkiv in the previous rounds of the tournament.

Dynamo beat FC Kharkiv in their weekend game. Milan Ninkovic scored the only goal of the game, and Dynamo’s winning margin could have been higher had the Kharkiv goalkeeper not produced some stunning saves. Artem Kravets is a doubt for this game. A lot will depend on the trio of Alexandr Aliyev, Ismael Bangoura and Artem Milevskiy, who have scored over 30 goals between them in Ukraine this season.
