Arsenal have consistently reached the later stages of the tournament but have often failed to cross the last hurdle. The Gunners came close to lifting the trophy in 2006 but late goals from Barcelona meant that the English club once again failed to deliver the goods at the vital moment.

Manager Arsene Wenger has admitted that he is desperate to win the Champions League for the first time in his managerial career but added that it will not be a priority this season. Arsenal had to qualify to the group stages after finishing third in the league last season but Wenger's side had comfortable outings in both their legs, beating FC Twente 6-0 on aggregate.

 

 

Dynamo Kiev hoping to avoid another washout this season after the club finished the group stage with 0 points last season. The Ukrainian side lost all of their six matches last season and ended the group stage with a goal difference of -15.

New manager Yuri Semin, who was appointed at the start of this season, will be hopeful that his side can collect at least a point against an Arsenal side that has lost all of its three matches played in Ukraine.
