United are currently on the fourth spot with 19 points from 10 games played so far. They have a game in hand over their immediate rivals Hibernian following their postponed game against Rangers. Just before the international break, Dundee got the better of Kilmarnock away from home beating them 2-0 thanks to a brace from Damian Casalinuovo.

Manager Craig Levein will hope his side can keep progressing and narrow the gap at the top of the table. He will be without striker Francisco Sandaza, who is yet to recover from a groin surgery. The Tangerines will also have Jon Daly on the brink of a comeback, but he might be on the bench for this one.

Celtic have put behind a nightmare start to the season to leapfrog Rangers at the top of the SPL table. The Hoops were dumped out of Champions League and are now on the verge of exiting the Europa League as well. In their last game, Celtic were held to a 3-3 draw by bottom huggers Falkirk. Scot McDonald scored a brace in space of 7 minutes in the second half, while Gary Caldwell got the other goal. But goals from Scott Arfield, Pedro Moutinho and Mark Stewart allowed Falkirk to salvage a draw from this one.

Manager Tony Mowbray is under pressure with pundits questioning if he is the right man to take the Bhoys forward. However he has been given the vote of confidence by the Celtic hierarchy and will hope to build on from there.
