The Rovers progressed to the fourth round thanks to a 3-0 win over Cheltenham Town in a FA Cup third-round replay. A brace from captain Brian Stock and another goal from Sam Hird cemented Doncaster's place in the fourth round.

Doncaster manager Sean O'Driscoll will hope his side can continue the good form and register an upset win. Paul Heffernan missed the replay against Cheltenham with a viral illness, but should be fit for this game even though James Coppinger performed admirably in the attack. Sean McDaid and James Hayter continue to remain sidelined with knee injuries, while Wade Fairhurst is out with a shoulder issue.

 

 

Aston Villa made it to this stage thanks to a 1-2 win over Gillingham in their last round. A brace from James Milner on his 32nd birthday helped Villa nullify Simeon Jackson's strike for the hosts.

Villa boss Martin O'Neill is having a great season and will be determined to take his side past the fourth round where they had succumbed to Manchester United last season. He may well give some fringe players a game here, but the core of the squad is bound to be a strong one.

 

 

Villa striker John Carew has returned to training after recovering from a series of back injuries, but will not start this game. Wilfred Bouma is also back on track from an ankle issue, but even he will not feature in this game. As far as transfer issues are concerned, Villa have lost out on Craig Bellamy with the Welsh striker moving to Man City. However O'Neill is still hoping to make one or two deals and top of his list is Boro winger Stewart Downing.
