Middlesbrough will be confident of making it two wins out of two when they travel to Derby County for this weekend's Premiership game.

Middlesbrough pulled off a shock 2-1 win over Arsenal in their last match, lifting some pressure from manager Gareth Southgate after a poor run of form had seen the club slip into the relegation zone. Stewart Downing and Sanli Tuncay had given Boro the lead before Tomas Rosicky got one back for Arsenal late in injury time to leave Boro with their first win in over 12 games.

The win lifts Boro to 16th in the league table with 14 points from 16 matches. While the club is far from safe with the season yet to reach the halfway stage, it is a step in the right direction. They look to pull as far away from the relegation zone as possible ahead of the crucial Christmas period.

First choice keeper Mark Schwarzer could return to full fitness before the match though it remains to be seen whether Southgate will replace Ross Turnbull who has impressed in the handful of chances that he has be provided. Also returning to action could be Brad Jones and Andrew Taylor though star striker Mido will have to spend a couple more weeks out on the sidelines.

Meanwhile Derby County manager Paul Jewell will be hoping that his team does turn around their poor form during the busy Christmas schedule knowing fully well that a failure to do so would mean relegation come the end of the season.

With the club having the worst attacking and defensive record in the league, Jewell will have his work cut out if he is to make sure that the club does survive in the league for another season. The manager has been promised funds in the January transfer window and Jewell will be hoping to register the club's first point in over 7 matches.
