Flores is down with swine flu and has been absent from the training sessions of the club from last Tuesday. In his absence assistant coach Fran Escriba is expected to take charge of the team. Flores was appointed by the Madrid club last month following the dismissal of Abel Resino. Atletico Madrid are struggling deep down the league table having collected just 7 points from 10 games played so far. In their last game, which was also the Madrid, they lost by a 2-3 margin to the visiting Galacticos. Goals from Kaka, Marcelo and Gonzalo Higuain had given Real a 3-0 lead by the 65th minute. However Diego Forlan and Sergio Aguerro gave the visitors a scare with goals in space of three minutes.

Real held on to preserve their prefect record at the Vicente Calderon despite the sending off of Sergio Ramos. Atletico manager Flores said defensive errors had cost his side the game and expressed hope that their fine showing would kick start their season.

Meanwhile Deportivo have had a wonderful start to the season climbing up to the 5th spot on the league table with 19 points from 10 games played so far. In their last outing Deport won comfortably by a 0-2 margin at Getafe thanks to goals from Miguel Mista and Felip Kasmirski. Coach Miguel Angel Lotina will be delighted with his side's showing especially after their shock 4-0 loss to Valladolid in the previous week.
