The French giants opened their European campaign with a narrow 1-0 win over Fiorentina in their first game. Both the teams were unable to find a breakthrough until the 76th minute when Miralem Pjanic took full advantage of Lyon's numerical superiority to score the winner.

While this is Debrecen's debut season in the Champions League, Lyon coach Claude Puel will be aware that his side cannot afford to be complacent against the Hungarian champions who have won all of their home matches during the qualifying rounds.

However Lyon's away record in the group stages is very good with the French club suffering just two defeats in their last 15 away games on the European stage. Debrecen coach Andras Herczeg will be keen to build on his side's performance in their first ever Champions League group stage match with Liverpool have to battle hard for their narrow victory.

Dirk Kuyt scored the winner on stroke of half time but Debrecen had a couple of decent chances to secure at least a point from the game with the English club struggling hard to put the result beyond doubt. Debrecen next play host to Fiorentina in the first leg of the double header while Lyon will be looking to secure their passage to the knockout stage with a victory when they visit Liverpool on October 20.
