The Czech Republic are on the third spot in Group Three of the FIFA World Cup qualifiers with 8 points from 5 games. In their game against Slovenia at the Ljudski Vrt Stadium on Saturday, the Czechs were held to a 0-0 draw by a side determined to spoil their bid to take the top spot from Slovakia.

Czech coach Petr Rada recalled Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech and AC Milan defender Marek Jankulovski to the squad to play the qualifiers against Slovenia and Slovakia after the duo missed the friendly against Morocco early in February.

 

 

Rada has also opted to call defender Marek Suchy for the first time for national duty. However he will continue to be without the services of Tomas Rosicky, who has suffered a groin strain after recovering from a serious knee injury.

Meanwhile Slovakia will be on a massive low coming into this game following a 4-0 trashing by England in a friendly clash at Wembley on Saturday. The Slovaks, who led Group Three prior to Saturday, were left scratching their heads as Emile Heskey, Frank Lampard and Wayne Rooney ran riot.

 

 

Rooney scored twice in the 4-0 win to leave coach Vladimir Weiss pondering the make-up of his squad ahead of the crucial qualifier against the Czechs. Slovakia goalkeeper Stefan Senecky was the saving grace for the visitors making timely saves to deny England running away with the game. It is expected that he will need to play a crucial role against the Czechs as well.
