Czech Republic will hope to strengthen their slim hopes of qualifying for the world cup 2010 when they play Poland at home on Saturday. Catch all the live football feeds from that game by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

The Czechs retained qualification hopes last month when they trashed San Marino by a 7-0 margin. Milan Baros scored four times, while Vaclav Sverkos grabbed a brace and Tomas Necid scored one goal to clinch all three points. The win sees the Czechs on 12 points from 8 games. They have two games remaining to grab a second place finish.

It will be tough because Northern Ireland and Slovenia are on 14 points each. Slovakia top the group with 19 points. Czech Republic coach Ivan Hasek has added Michal Papadopulos to the squad for the last two games against Poland and Northern Ireland.

With Baros in such great form and Thomas Rosiky back to his best, the Czechs will hope they can give the Poles a run for their money.

Meanwhile Poland have no chance of making it through and as a reaction the Polish Football Association have sacked Leo Beenhakker as coach of the national team. The Dutchman was fired after Poland's 3-0 away defeat to Slovenia last month. Stefan Majewski has been appointed as interim boss and has brought back Real Madrid goalkeeper Jerzy Dudek to the national squad.

Ireneusz Jelen is also named in the 26-man squad and will hope to prove his credentials to the new boss.
