The Czech Republic are fourth in their group for qualification of the 2010 World Cup. They have eight points from six games, seven less than leaders Slovakia. In their last two qualification games, the Czechs drew 0-0 with Slovenia, and were beaten 2-1 by Slovakia in Prague. Six Czech players were suspended for disciplinary reasons after the Slovakia game, but two of them, Milan Baros and Vaclav Sverkos, have been recalled to the squad for this friendly.

 

Arsenal midfielder Tomas Rosicky has not been called up due to a muscle injury. This is new Czech coach Ivan Hasek's first game in charge. He has also called up Hannover forward Jiri Stajner and Besiktas medio Tomas Sivok, neither of whom played at Euro 2008.

Like the Czechs, Belgium are also fourth in their World Cup qualification group. They are eleven points behind leaders Spain, and five behind second place Bosnia and Herzegovina. Caretaker manager Frankie Vercauteren has recalled 31 year old striker Emile Mpenza to the squad after a two year absence.

 

Man City defender Vincent Kompany is unavailable for this game because of a toe injury. The Belgians lost their double header to Bosnia and Herzegovina a few months ago. Bosnia won 4-2 in Genk, and also prevailed 2-1 at home. Belgium's next game in against European champions Spain.
