Italy will look to bounce back from a miserable Euro 2008 outing as they begin their campaign to qualify for the FIFA World Cup in 2010 with an away game against Cyprus. Watch all the live football here on Live Sport Network.

Italy parted ways with coach Roberto Donadoni and recalled World Cup winning coach Marcello Lippi after a debacle in the European Championships. The former Juventus manager has named a strong squad for the 2010 World Cup qualifiers against Cyprus and Georgia.

 

 

Skipper Fabio Cannavaro and striker Luca Toni have been recalled to the squad. Cannavaro missed Euro 2008 with damaged ankle ligaments, while Toni did not take part in his side's 2-2 draw against Austria in a friendly last month with a torn calf muscle.

Lippi has also recalled Gennaro Gattuso despite the midfielder having a shoulder issue that caused him to miss AC Milan's game last week. However Marco Materazzi, Antonio Cassano and Massimo Ambrosini do not find places in Lippi's team.

 

 

Giorgio Chiellini is out with an injury and his place has been taken by Juventus defender Nicola Legrottaglie. Simone Perrotta is also out with an Achilles tendon problem and this will be worrying for Lippi as Perrotta played a central role in Italy's triumph in 2006.

Meanwhile Cyprus will be looking to make it to the World Cup finals for the first time. However in a group that also has Georgia, Ireland, Bulgaria and Montenegro this looks a very long shot.
