After winning both their Premier League games till date, Mark Hughes will take his star studded Man City side to Selhurst Park on Thursday evening as the Citizens meet Crystal Palace in a second round Carling Cup game. Crystal Palace lost their weekend league fixture 2-0 to Newcastle United. Kevin Nolan and Ryan Taylor were on target for the Magpies at Selhurst Park. Palace boss Neil Warnock was not too pleased with his side’s performance, and added that his side never looked like winning the game at any point of time.

The Eagles have now won one, drawn one and lost two out of their four league games. They beat Torquay United 2-1 in the first round of the Carling Cup. Both the goals came from midfielder Darren Ambrose, who has already found the back of the net four times this season.

Man City beat Wolves 1-0 at home on Saturday thanks to Emmanuel Adebayor’s second goal in as many Premier League games. The Togolese international striker, signed in the summer from Arsenal, scored the solitary goal of the game on 17 minutes.

Carlos Tevez, making his first start for City, had an excellent first half, and was the creator of Adebayor’s goal. Stephen Ireland, Robinho and Adebayor all came close to extending City’s lead, but some wasteful finishing ensured that the scoreline stayed at 1-0. City keeper Shay Given again showed his class when he produced an excellent save to deny Matt Jarvis just before half time.
