Palace finished 21^st in the Championship last season and have already played one friendly this month. That was against Crawley Town, and the non league side beat the Eagles 1-0 thanks to Matt Tubbs’ superb 16^th minute effort. Palace had their chances in the game, with Alessane N'Diaye, Adam Barrett and Wilfried Zaha all going close for George Burley’s side.

Palace were missing the likes of Darren Ambrose, Sean Scannell, Claude Davis and Nathaniel Clyne against Crawley. Ambrose and Scannell are expected to recover in time from their injuries to face Chelsea on Saturday.

This is Chelsea’s first friendly game of July 2010. After the Palace game, the Blues will take on Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam a week later. Palace on the other hand, will visit Dorchester Town after the friendly against Chelsea.
