Costa Rica will be looking for a perfect start to their CONCACAF Gold Cup campaign with a comfortable victory over El Salvador when the two teams clash on Friday. Catch all the live footy action by signing up with us here on Live Sport Network.

The three-time Gold Cup champions were knocked out of the semi finals in the last edition and will be keen to improve on their recent record in the tournament after having not progressed past the quarter final stage in the last two editions.

With his side sitting in pole position to qualify for the World Cup next year, coach Rodrigo Kenton will be confident that his players will be able to replicate their excellent form in the tournament. Costa Rica are favorites to qualify from the group to the next stage along with Canada and Kenton will be hopeful that there will not be any slip ups as his side chases their first international trophy since lifting the Gold Cup back in 1989.

El Salvador on the other hand will be forced to field a weakened line up after the Central American Football Union placed a two match ban on goalkeeper Juan Jose Gomez along with Deris Umanzor and Rodolfo Zelaya.

All the three players limped off the field with injuries during their UNCAF Nations Cup back in January, forcing the referee to abandon the match in favor of Costa Rica as El Salvador was left with just six players on the field.

Costa Rica will be confident of collecting all three points on Friday after having thrashed El Salvador 5-2 when the two teams met during the quarter finals of the 2003 edition.
