Sunderland manager Steve Bruce will be hopeful that his good form against the “big four” continues this weekend when his side takes on league leaders Chelsea in their next Premier League match on Saturday. The Black Cats have already registered victories against Arsenal and Liverpool and were just minutes away from snatching a shock victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford. However, Sunderland’s form since then has taken a turn for worse with the club not winning a single game in its last seven games.

Bruce has revealed that he will be making some additions to the squad during the January transfer window with Mexican star Salvador Cabanas his number one target after Kevin Kuranyi decided to stay with Schalke.

There are no such plans for Chelsea though with manager Carlo Ancelotti already stating that he will not be buying any players in the present transfer window. Chelsea are without Didier Drogba, Salomon Kalou, John Obi Mikel and Michael Essien who are with their national squads. However Ancelotti has expressed his confidence that his young players will be able to step up to the plate. That confidence seems to have been paid off in some part as the Blues thrashed Watford 5-0 in their FA Cup match early this month.

Ancelotti will be looking for a repeat of the performance that saw Chelsea secure a comfortable 3-1 win over Sunderland early this season. The Blues had gone behind to a Darren Bent in the first half but staged a superb comeback in the second half with goals from Michael Ballack, Frank Lampard and Deco ensuring that there were no slip-ups by the title challengers.
