The Blues have responded in a positive fashion since their first defeat at Stamford Bridge in more than 86 matches and have notched up four wins on the trot to move top of the league table. Chelsea have not conceded a single league goal in four matches following their defeat to Liverpool, scoring 13 goals in the process.

Newcastle United are suffering from an injury crisis of their own with Joey Barton's knee ligament injury taking the number of first team players out of action to six. The Magpies bounced back from their 2-1 defeat to Fulham with a hard fought draw against Wigan Athletic last weekend.

 

 

Wigan had led through a 3rd minute goal from Ryan Taylor but two late goals in space of seven minutes from Michael Owen and Obafemi Martins before Titus Bramble equalized in the final minute of the game to snatch a point for Wigan.
