A poor away record in the group stage means that Chelsea could get knocked out of the competition on Tuesday should they fail to beat CFR Cluj and Bordeaux manage to win against Roma in the other game.

The Blues started their campaign with a thumping 4-0 win over Bordeaux in their opening group match and though they have managed to win their second home game against Roma, Chelsea have collected just two points from their three away games which includes a 3-1 defeat to Roma.

 

 

Manager Luiz Felipe Scolari has both on and off field worries after boasting that his side would emerge Champions this season. The rumored move of Didier Drogba to Inter has caused concern in Stamford Bridge, while several injuries have meant Scolari has never been able to field a full side during this campaign.

Cluj on the other hand saw their slender hopes of finishing at least third in the group quashed when they were beaten 3-1 at home by Roma. The Romanian side put up a tough challenge at the start of the group stage by collecting four points from their first two matches.

 

 

However three defeats in a row, including the defeats home and away to Bordeaux have put an end to their European aspirations. Manager Maurizio Trombetta will now be hoping that his side will manage to go out of the competition with another positive result against Chelsea on Tuesday.
