Chelsea manager Luiz Felipe Scolari will be making his debut in the Champions League when his side welcomes French league runners up Bordeaux in their opening match of the group stage on Tuesday. Watch Chelsea vs Bordeaux Live on Live Sport Network's live soccer streams.

 

 

Scolari has never managed a European club in his long and glittering career but will be no stranger to continental club competitions after having won Copa Libertadores twice with Gremio and Palmeiras. Having lost the Champions League final in the penalties to Manchester United last season, Chelsea will be keen to finally grab the coveted title this time around after reaching at least the semi finals of the tournament four out of their last five attempts.

Scolari will be confident of extending Chelsea's unbeaten run at home to 13 matches in the European competition and will be optimistic of ending the group stage at the top of the table with Roma being the only other threat in the group.

 

 

This will be Bordeaux's second Champions League appearance in five years with the club last taking part in the competition back in 2006 when they finished third in the group stage. While his side are tipped to repeat that performance this time around, coach Laurent Blanc will be hoping to pull off an upset starting by collecting a point against Chelsea on Tuesday.

Bordeaux have lost all of their three matches played in England so far and are yet to score an away goal. Their record against English opponents stands at five defeats and a draw in six matches, with the French side managing to hold Aston Villa to a 0-0 draw at home in the 1998-99 UEFA Cup.

 

 

Blanc will be hoping that his side will manage to exploit a minor injury crisis at Stamford Bridge with Michael Ballack, Michael Essien, John Obi Mikel and Didier Drogba out of action while Joe Cole suffered a head injury in England's 4-1 win over Croatia.
