The Blues slumped to a 2-1 defeat away to Aston Villa with manager Carlo Ancelotti unhappy over his side's defensive display in the game. While the defeat sees Chelsea drop down from the top of their domestic league table, there are no such worries in the Champions League with two wins from their first two games leaving them in a very strong position to wrap up their qualification to the next round.

However Ancelotti will not be happy with his side's performances in the two games as Chelsea followed up on their narrow 1-0 win over Porto with another below par performance against APOEL Nicosia. Nicolas Anelka scored the only goal of the match as Chelsea struggled to stamp their authority on the game and allowed Nicosia to twice come close to leveling the scores late in the second half.

Atletico Madrid will be hoping that Chelsea have a bad day yet again as they look to overcome their poor start to the group stage by securing a shock win over the English giants. Following a disappointing draw against Nicosia in their first match, Atletico slumped to a 2-0 defeat against Porto in their last game with Radamel Falcao and Rolando scoring for the Portuguese club.

The defeat sees Atletico slip to the bottom of the group table and manager Abel Resino will be aware that the next two games will hold the key for Atletico's progress to the next round.
