Chelsea are currently positioned third and are six points behind Manchester United but they do have a game in hand. The Blues go into the match on the back of morale boosting victories over Olympiacos and West Ham after they were criticized for their performance in the Carling Cup final.

Manager Avram Grant will be pleased by the performance of his team over the last week, especially with Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack linking up well in the midfield to score four goals between each other in to matches.

Lampard will be available to take the field after the FA rescinded his card for the altercation with Boa Morte last weekend. However Grant will be without Petr Cech with the Czech international suffering from an ankle injury and Carlo Cudicini is expected to retain his place in the goal.

With his side favorites to lose the match heavily, Derby County manager will be hoping to make Chelsea work hard for the victory and try to snatch a point from the game. Derby managed to hold out for a 0-0 draw against Sunderland last weekend, taking their total tally of points this season to 10.

Giles Barnes will not be able to play for the rest of the season after suffering from a knee injury in a training session and with the club certain to go down this season, Jewell revealed that he will not be rushing the midfielder back into action.
