The Hoops find themselves in a tight spot and in real danger of losing the domestic crown for the first time in four years after their advantage over Rangers was reduced to just one point last week.

That came about after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Hearts. Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink put them ahead within 30 seconds of the start, but Bruno Aguiar helped Hearts draw level with a superb free-kick on 32 minutes.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan remains hopeful his side can retain their title, but with Rangers breathing down their necks, anything is possible. Celtic are worried over the fitness of Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink, who aggravated a hamstring injury last week. With Georgios Samaras and skipper Stephen McManus also doubtful starters, Celtic will need to dig deep to maintain their lead.

Meanwhile Aberdeen climbed to the fourth spot on the table with a 1-0 win over Inverness CT last week. Gary McDonald scored late on to gave them all three points and ensure a top six finish this season. The Dons currently have 48 points from 32 games.

However Aberdeen have injury worries as Zander Diamond is out with an ankle injury. But manager Jimmy Calderwood will have Andrew Considine and midfielder Mark Kerrback from suspension.
