Celtic will be acutely aware that this is a must-win game for them if they are to progress to the knock out stages of UEFA Champions League this season. With both FC Shakhtar Donetsk and Celtic tied on points in Group D, this clash at Celtic Park may very well decide the second team to go through from this group.

Celtic boss Gordon Strachan will employ his best team against Shakhtar in order to clinch all three points. However Celtic may be without Japanese midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura, who is struggling to recover from the knee injury that he sustained during his team's Champions League qualifying round game against Spartak Moscow.

Nakamura did not feature in this weekend's SPL match against Aberdeen and he is doubtful for the Shakhtar game as well. Celtic began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a 2-0 loss at Shakhtar Donetsk on Matchday 1. However they followed this up with a superb 2-1 win over holders AC Milan thanks to Scott McDonald's last-gasp winner.

Celtic lost 1-0 against Benfica on Matchday 3, but recovered to win the reverse game 1-0 on Matchday 4. With an acid test coming up, Celtic will hope they can overcome Shakhtar in front of home fans. Celtic are third in Group D with 6 points from 4 games.

FC Shakhtar Donetsk on the other hand will also be keen to ensure they come off with all three points when they visit Celtic. Shakhtar started off with a 2-0 win against Celtic on Matchday 1 and defeated Benfica 1-0 on Matchday 2 before slipping to a 4-1 defeat at Milan on Matchday 3. That was followed by a 3-0 trashing by Milan at the RSC Olympiyskiy Stadium on Matchday 4.
