Cardiff progressed to the fourth round with a clinical 2-0 win over Reading. Last season's beaten finalists went through thanks to goals from Ross McCormack and Joe Ledley. Cardiff manager Dave Jones will be hoping the Bluebirds can rise to the occasion and cause an upset in front of home fans at the Ninian Park on Sunday.

Cardiff talisman and skipper Joe Ledley has not lost in eight games that he has captained the side and hopes that he can lead them to the ninth win. Ledley is reportedly on his way out of the club after an approach by Premier League clubs and if he leads his side to a famous win against Arsenal, it will be a great legacy. Gabor Gyepes is once again expected to partner Roger Johnson in the defence, while Darren Purse could once again be benched.

 

 

Arsenal will once again field a youthful squad for this game with manager Arsene Wenger keen on giving his young side a taste for good competition. The Gunners demolished Plymouth 3-1 in the third round with Robin van Persie scoring a brace and David Gray scoring an own goal. Karl Duguid pulled a goal back for Plymouth, but it was merely a consolation goal.

For this game, William Gallas and Mikael Silvestre remain sidelined with hamstring and thigh injuries respectively, while Alex Song will need to pass a late fitness test to feature. Theo Walcott, Cesc Fabregas and Tomas Rosicky are long-term absentees, but Eduardo is inching his way back to fitness after recovering from a horrific broken leg last season.

 

 

The Gunners are also reportedly close to a move for Zenit St Petersburg man Andrei Arshavin, but that move may be too late in coming for this game at least.
