The Canucks face a tough task in order to progress to the quarter finals from the group and coach Stephen Hart will be keen to impress the Canadian Soccer Association after being appointed on an interim basis to replace Dale Mitchell who was sacked in March.

Hart revealed that he has been appointed as the coach till the end of this year and will be hopeful of taking over the job on a permanent basis by putting up a good show in the competition.

Canada will be looking to avenge their disappointing 3-0 defeat to Jamaica in the third round of the World Cup qualifiers as the Canucks managed just two draws to finish bottom of their group table.

However Canada do have a good record in the Gold Cup with the team ending up as shock winners in 2000 while they have reached the semi finals twice, in 2002 and in the last edition where they lost out to United States.

Meanwhile Jamaica will be looking to continue their impressing showing during their World Cup qualifying campaign when they nearly shocked Mexico in the third round but had to settle for a third place in the group stage thanks to their inferior goal difference.

The Reggae Boyz too have a new manager in Theodore Whitmore who was appointed as the coach after John Barnes resigned from the position to return to club management. This is the third spell as an interim manager for Whitmore who has a 100% record in his previous two spells, winning all the five matches that he has been in charge of.
