The Canucks qualified for the quarterfinals as winners of Group A ahead of Costa Rica. Canada had seven points with 2 wins and a draw from their three matches. In their last group game, they were held to a 2-2 draw by Costa Rica.

 

 

Goals for Costa Rica from Andy Herron and Walter Centeno nullified strikes from Patrice Bernier and Marcel de Jong as both teams advanced to the next stage.

Canada coach Stephen Hart had rested Julian de Guzman, Paul Stalteri, Ali Gerba, Mike Klukowski, Dejan Jakovic and Josh Simpson for the last game, but will get them back on for this one as his side looks to advance to the semi-final stage.

Meanwhile Honduras qualified as the runners-up in Group B behind United States. The Central American nation had two wins and a loss in its group stage campaign.

 

 

Honduras beat Grenada 4-0 in its final group game to advance to the quarterfinals. Goals from Walter Martinez, Roger Espinoza, Carlos Costly' and Melvin Valladares gave Los Catrachos a well-deserved win.

Honduras coach Reinaldo Rueda will hope his side can carry on that form into the quarterfinals as well.
