The Rossoblu will be pleased with the progress made so far this season which has seen the club improve on its 14th placed finish from last time around. Cagliari are currently positioned 9th in the league table and still have a great chance to move two more places up the table.

However they go into the game on Sunday on a poor run of just two points from their last four matches which saw them drop out of the race for the European qualification spot. But manager Massimiliano Allegri will be satisfied with the season so far and will be assessing his squad in order to build on their performance next season.

Cagliari suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat away to Reggina last weekend. Andrea Lazzari had put the Rossoblu in an early lead but Reggina struck back to equalize through Fabio Ceravolo before Franco Brienza scored the winner four minutes into the second half.

Inter Milan on the other hand will be going into the match high on confidence after winning their fourth straight Scudetto after AC Milan lost out to Udinese. Manager Jose Mourinho expressed his delight at winning the league title in his first attempt and promised that there was more to come in the next few years.

Mourinho is expected to give some of the fringe players a chance to showcase their skills as he assesses the areas needed to improve in the summer. Portuguese winger Luis Figo revealed that he will be retiring at the end of this season while doubts persist over the future of Zlatan Ibrahimovic who is angling for a move in the summer.
