Ronaldinho’s header in the derby last weekend sealed a great win for Milan over Jose Mourinho’s side and in the process putting them only one point behind their arch-rivals and the reigning champions. After a stuttering start to the campaign, Milan have now strung together an impressive three wins in a row and are sitting in sixth place with nine points.

On the injury front, forward Marco Borriello will be missing for about ten days after suffering a left thigh injury against Reggina last week. Andrea Pirlo, Alessandro Nesta, Philippe Senderos and Filippo Inzaghi are also on the injury list.

The team have to travel to Switzerland on Thursday to face Zurich in the second leg of their first round UEFA Cup encounter but Milan won the first leg 3-1 at the San Siro so won’t be anticipating any major problems from the Swiss side.

Cagliari come into the match on the back of a 2-0 away defeat to Lecce and have endured a wretched start to the season – played five, lost five and only scoring one goal in the process while conceding ten! The last thing they want to be doing now is facing a resurgent AC Milan team, albeit at home. They will be without Davide Astori while Michele Canini is doubtful.
