Russian Premier League outfit Dinamo Moscow travel to Sofia this week to meet 31 time Bulgarian champions CSKA Sofia in the first leg of their 2009-10 Europa League playoff tie. CSKA finished one point behind rivals Levski in the Bulgarian A Professional Football Group last season. They thus entered the Europa League in the third qualifying round, where they faced Irish side Derry City. CSKA beat Derry 1-0 at home thanks to a goal from Ivan Stoyanov, and drew the return leg 1-1 at the Brandywell Stadium.

CSKA have won both their games in the 2009-10 edition of the A PFG. They hammered Lokomotiv Plovdiv 5-0 in their first game, and beat Beroe Zagora 3-0 at home in the second. Kosta Yanev, Yordan Todorov and Ivan Ivanov scored for CSKA against Beroe.

Dinamo finished third in the Russian Premier League last season, and drew Scottish giants Celtic in the third qualifying round of the Champions League. They won in Glasgow thanks to an early Alexsandr Kokorin goal, but lost 2-0 at home to Tony Mowbray's side. Andrey Kobelev's side thus lost the tie 2-1 on aggregate.

Dinamo are currently fourth in the Russian Premier League with 30 points from 18 games. They are tied on points with two other Moscow teams- CSKA Moscow and FC Moscow. Former Sevilla and Zenit striker Alexsandr Kerzhakov scored the solitary goal for Dinamo in their weekend win over Rostov.
