The Latics put up a determined performance against City and took a deserved lead on the stroke of half time through Charles N'Zogbia only for Martin Petrov to equalize two minutes into the second half. However Wigan created a number of decent chances throughout the game though they were unlucky not to have beaten Shay Given for a second time.

Manager Roberto Martinez expressed his delight at his side's performance and claimed that they would have won the game were it not for City to take up a defensive stance following the sending off of Pablo Zabaleta in the 65th minute.

Martinez will be looking for more of the same this weekend but will have to be wary of Burnley's excellent home record that has seen the club win all of its four games at Turf Moor. While Burnley have struggled for form on the road, there are no such complaints at home with the club maintaining a perfect record which includes a 1-0 win over Manchester United. With the club also boasting a decent record of losing just one game in the last five meetings against Wigan, manager Owen Coyle will be optimistic of extending their 100% record at home to five games.

Burnley go into the match following a narrow 3-2 defeat away to Blackburn Rovers last weekend. Robbie Blake had given the Clarets an early lead but goals from David Dunn, Franco Di Santo and Pascal Chimbonda saw Blackburn take a 3-1 lead before Chris Eagles managed to reduce the deficit late in injury time.
