England manager Fabio Capello will be looking at testing some new options when his side takes on Brazil in a friendly encounter at the Khalifa International Stadium in Qatar on Saturday. Having sealed their progress to the World Cup finals next year in a comfortable fashion, Capello will now be looking for some alternatives to a couple of positions, especially in the centre of the defense.
With Rio Ferdinand struggling for form and fitness and Ledley King expected to miss out on the World Cup squad, Capello will be looking forward to testing some of his options in the central defense. Bolton Wanderers' Gary Cahill and Manchester City's Joleon Lescott have been called up to the squad with Cahill expected to play at least some part in the game alongside John Terry. Capello has also awarded Darren Bent with a place in the squad with the striker impressing for Sunderland so far this season. Bent has scored eight goals this season and is expected to start alongside Wayne Rooney with Emile Heskey missing out with an injury.
Meanwhile Brazil coach Dunga has called up a number of new players to his squad as he attempts to find the right combination before the World Cup kicks off next year. Porto striker Hulk is in line to make his debut for the Selecao along with Carlos Eduardo and Michel Bastos. There is however trouble looming with the Brazil coach adamant that Roma duo Doni and Juan should travel with the team though the Italian club is resisting the approach with the players yet to fully recover from their injuries.
Both the players have been called up by Dunga to be examined by the national team medical staff but Roma director Gian Paolo Montali revealed that they are injured and will not be traveling to Qatar.
