His successor, the ageing Ciro Blazevic, who also coached Croatia at the 1998 World Cup, has managed to script an amazing turnaround. Bosnia currently have 15 points from seven games, and will confirm at least a second place finish in Group 5 if they beat Turkey on Wednesday. Bosnia’s last game was against Armenia in Yerevan, which they won 2-0 with a goal in either half. Senijad Ibricic gave Zjamevi the lead in the 6th minute, and PAOK striker Zlatan Muslimovic made sure of three points with his 73rd minute effort. Prolific Wolfsburg forward Edin Dzeko was also guilty of missing a penalty. Turkey kept their World Cup hopes alive with a 4-2 win over Estonia in Kayseri. Estonia took a shock lead through Vladimir Boskoboinikov, but the Crescent Stars hit back through skipper Sanli Tuncay and Sercan Yildrim. Konstantin Vassiljev equalised for Estonia, but Turkey won 4-2 thanks to further goals from Arda Turan and Tuncay. Turkey are currently third in Group 5 with 11 points from seven games. When Turkey met Bosnia in Istanbul last October, the Crescent Stars emerged 2-1 winners thanks to goals from Arda Turan and Mevlut Erdinc. Bosnia will take a giant step towards qualifying for the World Cup if they beat Turkey, but they know better than to underestimate Fatih Terim’s men. Turkey have acquired the tag of comeback kings with their performances in the recent past, and they will be looking for all three points in Zenica.
