The French team started off disastrously with a 0-4 loss to Chelsea on Matchday 1, but followed it up with a 1-3 loss against Roma. However the subsequent matchdays proved vital as they won 1-0 and 2-1 against Cluj.

Goals from Yoann Gourcuff and Wendel put Bordeaux in the driver's seat on Matchday 4 even though Dani pulled one back for Cluj. Laurent Blanc's team was revitalized by these two wins and will now look to regroup and book a ticket to the knockout stages.

 

 

Meanwhile Chelsea's European campaign is stuttering after they suffered an unexpected 3-1 loss to Roma. One goal from Christian Panucci and two sizzlers from Mirko Vucinic nullified a John Terry strike to give Roma the win and leave Chelsea with several unanswered questions.

The Blues began with a 4-0 demolition of Bordeaux, followed by a 0-0 draw against Cluj and a 1-0 win over Roma. However the setback on Matchday 4 means this group is still wide open.

 

 

Luiz Felipe Scolari is still without key players although Petr Cech and Joe Cole could return for this game. However Alex is still battling a thigh injury and Ashley Cole is doubtful with a foot injury. Moreover Juliano Belletti and Ricardo Carvalho have thigh and knee injuries respectively.
