A dream start to their debut Champions League campaign has seen Cluj collect four points from their first two matches. The Romanian club started their group campaign in the best possible fashion with a 2-1 win away to Roma. Juan Culio scored a goal in either half as Cluj came back from a goal down to register their first win in the competition.

Cluj then followed it up with a gritty performance in their 0-0 home draw against Chelsea and though Roma managed to win their match against Bordeaux, the Romanian champions sit second in the group table with more than a good chance of making it to the knockout stages.

 

 

With Roma scheduled to play Chelsea in their next two matches, Cluj manager Maurizio Trombetta will be aware that his side will have to avoid defeat against Bordeaux in their next match and win in the reverse fixture if they are to have any hopes of making it to the next round.

Bordeaux on the other hand will have to win against Cluj if they are to extend their European campaign beyond the group stages. Defeats in their opening two matches meant that Laurent Blanc's side have a slim chance of making it to the knockout stage and have a tough fight at hand if they are to avoid finishing at the bottom of their group table.
