The Latics completely dominated the game against Liverpool with Hugo Rodallega scoring the winner in the first half. Manager Roberto Martinez was delighted with his side’s defensive performance with Liverpool failing to test keeper Chris Kirkland even once throughout the game.

The win sees Wigan climb to 15th in the table, four points clear of the drop zone and Martinez will be optimistic that his side can maintain their level of performance for the remainder of the season and pull well clear of the drop zone. With Paul Scharner and Charles N'Zogbia recovering from their injuries, Steven Gohouri is the only major injury concern for Wigan though the defender is expected to recover in time for the kick off.

Meanwhile Bolton Wanderers manager Owen Coyle will be expecting an improved performance from his side after they were thrashed 4-0 by Sunderland on Tuesday. The Trotters were second best throughout the game and with his side still uncomfortably close to the drop zone, Coyle will be expecting nothing less than all three points against Wigan.
