The Wanderers suffered a 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League in what was Coyle's first game in charge of the Reebok Stadium outfit. However, Coyle has expressed confidence that his side can turn things around very soon.

Bolton beat Lincoln City by a 4-0 margin in their third round fixture thanks to goals from Chung-yong Lee, Gary Cahill and Mark Davies after an own goal from Moses Swaibu had given them a lead in the 49th minute.

Owen Coyle has said he expects a tough encounter against Sheffield United on Saturday, but will be boosted by the availability of Kevin Davies and Mark Davies, who had missed out due to a viral illness. Joey O'Brien and Sean Davis continue to be absent through injuries.

Meanwhile Sheffield United are on a high following a 1-0 win over Middlesbrough in the Championship. The Blades progressed to the fourth round after beating Queens Park Rangers 2-3 at Loftus Road.

Goals from Lee Williamson, Jamie Ward and Richard Cresswell nullified late strikes from Akos Buzsaky and Damion Stewart to ensure that they kept a date with Bolton.

Blades manager Kevin Blackwell will welcome back Matt Kilgallon, who has recovered from a hamstring issue, but Henri Camara is a doubtful starter with a groin injury. Gary Naysmith is definitely out as he is yet to regain full fitness after recovering from a knee injury.
