Manchester United goalkeeper Edwin Van der Sar could start his first league game this season when his side takes on Bolton Wanderers in their next league match on Saturday. The 38-year old is yet to play a single game this season after picking up a hand injury in the pre-season but the Dutch keeper has recovered and has played in a reserves fixture during the international break. With Ben Foster making a series of errors in recent games and Tomasz Kuszczak deemed a third choice keeper, manager Alex Ferguson will be relieved to have Van der Sar back in action and is expected to hand the 38-year old his first start this season.

New signing Gabriel Obertan is expected to make his United debut in a reserves game and will be available for selection in a couple of weeks time along with Rafael who has recovered from his shoulder injury. United will be looking to improve on their disappointing performance against Sunderland in their last game as they had to rely once again on an injury time goal to avoid defeat after twice going behind.

Bolton will provide a stiff test for United who have a number of players who will be a bit tired after returning back from their national squads while the Trotters have had most of their squad available for training during the international break.

The Trotters have lost all of their last six meetings at Old Trafford including a 2-0 defeat last season Cristiano Ronaldo and Wayne Rooney scoring on that occasion.
