The Citizens finally broke their run of draws with an excellent performance against Chelsea last weekend. City had gone behind in an unlucky fashion as Shay Given’s save struck Emmanuel Adebayor in the back before rolling into the net.

However the Togo international made amends by restoring parity before the half time whistle while Carlos Tevez put City ahead with a free kick 11 minutes into the second half. The result sees City move just two points behind fourth placed Tottenham Hotspur with a game still in hand. Manager Mark Hughes expressed his delight over the performance, adding that confidence is sky high among his players after beating both Chelsea and Arsenal in space of three days.

However the win over Chelsea came at some price though with Wayne Bridge being stretchered off the field with a knee injury. The England international is expected to be out of action for at least two weeks which could mean an extended run of play for Javier Garrido or Sylvinho.

Meanwhile Bolton Wanderers boss Gary Megson will be hopeful that City’s win over Chelsea was one off and the Citizens will slip back into a complacent mode when they visit this weekend.
