After a successful pre-season tour of Asia, Premier League holders Manchester United head out to Germany, where they will fight it out with Boca Juniors, Bayern Munich and AC Milan for the inaugural Audi Cup. Boca Juniors play Man United in the opening game of the tournament. The winner will take on the winner of the Bayern-AC Milan game for the title, while the loser gets to contest in the third place playoff. The competition is being organised by Audi to celebrate the car maker's 100^th year of operations.

Boca have snapped up Gary Medel from Universidad Catolica on a one year loan deal that can become permanent at the option of Los Xeneizes. Federico Insua has returned to his former club on a loan deal from Club America. Playmaker Juan Roman Riquelme could make things difficult for United with his vision and passing abilities.

Man United won all four of their pre-season friendlies in Asia. They started with a hard fought 3-2 win over Malaysia XI, and then followed it up with a 2-0 win over the same team a few days later. FC Seoul were then beaten 3-2, and United completed their tour by hammering Hangzhou Greentown 8-1.

New signing Michael Owen scored twice, while veteran Ryan Giggs scored a hat trick as United ran amok in China. Nani, Zoran Tosic and Dimitar Berbatov were also on the scoresheet as Hangzhou were simply unable to keep pace with Sir Alex Ferguson's men.
