Blackpool's draw at Vicarage Road was their fourth successive one in the new Championship season. Watford took the lead through Tommy Smith, but the Tangerines equalised after half time through Alex John-Baptiste. The Hornets again went ahead through on loan signing Tom Cleverley, but Gary Taylor-Fletcher converted Charlie Adam's cross with 18 minutes left on the clock to give Blackpool another point on the road.

Striker Daniel Nardiello will miss this game with a hip injury, while defender Danny Coid sits out due to a hairline fracture of his tibia. Blackpool beat Crewe 2-1 in the first round of the Carling Cup. Last season, the Seasiders failed to progress beyond the first round, where they were beaten by Macclesfield Town.

Wigan started their new season well with a shock 2-0 away win at Villa Park, but the Latics have been brought back to reality with their next two results. They first lost to newly promoted Wolverhampton Wanderers, and were thrashed 5-0 by Manchester United on Saturday.

Wigan held their own for fifty five minutes before Wayne Rooney broke the deadlock with his 100^th Manchester United goal. That opened the floodgates, and Dimitar Berbatov, Michael Owen and Nani also got on the scoresheet as Wigan crumbled under pressure from the Red Devils.
