Blackburn will welcome Sunderland to Ewood Park in a Premiership clash after having played the same opponents at the Stadium of Light in a Carling Cup clash during the midweek. Watch all the live Premier League action here on Live Sport Network.

 

 

A poor run of results in recent games has seen Blackburn slip to the 15th spot on the League table. Manager Paul Ince started in a promising manner, but lately results seem less than desirable. Last week the Rovers lost 0-2 to Chelsea at home with Nicolas Anelka scoring a brace to send Chelsea to the top of the Premiership.

Injuries have also played a part in Blackburn's miserable run with Vince Grella ruled out for four weeks with a hamstring injury. Roque Santa Cruz and Brett Emerton are battling hamstring injuries, while Andre Ooijer is out with a knee issue.

 

 

Meanwhile Sunderland have also had a poor run of results starting with a 1-0 loss to Stoke that left manager Roy Keane furious with his players for the lack of discipline.

Last weekend was no better for the Black Cats who slipped to a 1-2 loss to Portsmouth at home. It was the first victory for new Portsmouth manager Tony Adams and arrived courtesy Jermaine Defoe who scored an injury time penalty after El-Hadji Diouf fouled Glen Johnson.

Sunderland had taken the lead courtesy French striker Djibril Cisse, but Nadir Belhadj pulled Pompey back on level terms. Just when it looked like a point each for both sides, Defoe grabbed the winner. Keane will have been furious with the chances wasted by Cisse and will hope the striker can make amends in this game.

 

 

Kenwyne Jones could be out with a knee injury that he picked up during training, while Craig Gordon and Martyn Waghorn are struggling with ankle injuries. George McCartney has a foot injury and Daryl Murphy has a dead leg. Last season this fixture was clinched by Blackburn 1-0.
