The Rovers are currently sitting 15th in the league table and need just one win from their remaining three matches in order to pull clear of the drop zone regardless of the results achieved by Newcastle United and Middlesbrough.

After a good performance against Wigan Athletic, Blackburn slipped to a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Manchester City leaving the club with some work to do in order to maintain their Premiership status with just three more games remaining in the season.

 

 

Blackburn were handed a double blow last weekend after it was revealed that Chris Samba and Benni McCarthy had picked up knocks during the match against Manchester City. However manager Sam Allardyce has expressed his confidence that both the players will recover in time for the crucial game against Portsmouth this weekend.

Meanwhile Pompey could seal their participation in the Premier League next season by securing all three points over Blackburn on Saturday. Though Pompey were comfortably beaten by Arsenal last weekend, the team has put on vastly improved performances since Paul Hart was appointed as the interim coach.

 

 

Portsmouth have lost just three games under Hart and with the defeats coming against Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal. While the club is yet to decide on a permanent manager, Hart admitted that he would be delighted to take over the position on a permanent basis but is currently focused on helping his side avoid relegation come the end of the season.
